THE COLLEGE

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is committed to developing world-class research and providing outstanding healthcare education. We aim to be an agent of change in medical education reform and health sciences research. We strive to attract and develop healthcare leaders who will advance health sciences locally and globally.

CHS’s strategic partner within Vingroup is the Vinmec Healthcare System—the leading private, not-for-profit provider in Vietnam, comprising 10 hospitals and outpatient clinics (1,600+ beds). VinUni CHS received official recognition from ACGME International, a renowned international accrediting organization, for the high quality of its postgraduate medical education programs at institutional level. This marked CHS as the first medical education institution in Vietnam and only the second in Southeast Asia, following Singapore, to attain such recognition. In March 2024, ACGME-I accredited 3 residency programs at CHS (Internal Medicine, General Surgery and Pediatrics), which recognized VinUni again, for the first time in Vietnam with 3 “program level” accreditation. CHS is also the first and only institution in Vietnam with ACEN Candidacy recognition for Nursing education program. 

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically curious Technology Lead to join our research laboratory and lead the adoption, implementation, and application of emerging research technologies.

The successful candidate will play a key role in building and expanding the laboratory's technological capabilities. This position is particularly suited to a scientist who enjoys learning new technologies, working hands-on with advanced research platforms, troubleshooting experimental workflows, and applying new technologies to challenging biological and biomedical research questions.

The Technology Lead will work closely with the Laboratory Director, researchers, clinicians, technology providers, and collaborators to learn and establish new technologies, develop and optimize experimental workflows, train laboratory members, and provide technical and scientific support for research projects.

The position will have a strong focus on cell analysis, multi-omics, single-cell technologies, and other emerging biomedical research technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Take the lead in receiving, learning, and implementing new research technologies, instruments, and experimental platforms introduced into the laboratory.

- Participate in training provided by technology vendors, manufacturers, and external experts.

- Evaluate the performance, applications, limitations, and potential research value of new technologies. Continuously monitor emerging technologies, platforms, and methodologies relevant to the laboratory's research priorities.

- Develop and optimize experimental workflows and protocols for laboratory use. Train researchers in instrument operation, experimental workflows, troubleshooting, and best practices.

- Provide technical and scientific support for research projects involving cell analysis and high-throughput technologies. Independently perform experiments when appropriate and support researchers in executing complex workflows.

- Contribute to research publications, conference presentations, grant proposals, and other scientific outputs when appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- Ph.D. in molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, genetics, genomics, biochemistry, cell biology, or a closely related discipline.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience

- Demonstrated research experience in one or more areas of molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, proteomics, biomedical sciences, or related fields.

- Practical experience in one or more advanced technologies of cell analysis, multi-omics technologies and/or high-throughput biological research: flow cytometry, cell sorting, single-cell analysis, NGS, spatial omics, proteomics, transcriptomics, or other advanced technologies is highly desirable.

- Demonstrated ability to independently perform experiments, troubleshoot technical problems, and interpret experimental results.

- Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, adopt, and apply new research technologies, instruments, and experimental platforms.

- Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to researchers in laboratory techniques, instrument operation, and experimental workflows.

- A strong record of scientific research and contributions to publications, conference presentations, or other research outputs is desirable.
