POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
REPORTING LINE
Reports to: Program Director, General Surgery Residency Program
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Education (30%):
- Clinical Teaching and Direct Supervision of General Surgery residents in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
- PGY1 Course Activities: participate as a lecturer in foundational course (Core Clinical Skills course) for first year residents in GME.
- Surgery Curriculum: participate in delivery and coordinate teaching conferences for residents using a variety of modalities including didactic lectures, case presentation, M&M conferences, journal club, wellness curriculum.
- Simulation Curriculum: Working together with Program Director and Simulation Center to deliver simulation curriculum specific for surgery residents.
Clinical Activities (50%):
- Patient care activities in surgery in teaching hospitals as assigned (Main sites are Vinmec Times City and Military 108 Hospital).
- Conduct teaching in OR, bedside integrated in clinical works.
Evaluation/Assessment (10%):
- Reviews evaluation data for residents, faculty, program overall.
- Giving feedback to residents at the end of rotation.
Administration and Recruitment (5%):
- In collaboration with Program Director and GME Coordinator, acts as a liaison with Vinmec and VinUniversity to ensure compliance.
- Mentoring and Coaching for residents in program as assigned by Program Director
- Actively participates in recruitment of new residents each academic year including outreach events, application review, interviews, and final ranking of candidates.
- Assists Program Director with Resident Scheduling and Faculty Scheduling for clinical rotations.
Faculty Development (5%):
- In collaboration with Program Director, meets regularly with Surgery Faculty members to review evaluation data and provide support and coaching as needed.
- Actively participates in Faculty Development training sessions.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Required:
- MD degree with specialization in General Surgery or any of the below Surgical Subspecialties:
- Gastrointestinal
- Hepatobiliary
- Cardiothoracic
- Vascular
- Oncology Surgery
- Endocrine Surgery
- Required educational experience: at least five years of participation as an active faculty member in a medical school or residency program.
Preferred:
- Experience with simulation teaching of procedures, clinical scenarios, and/or communication skills.
- Experience with working in multidisciplinary and collaborative educational teams.
- Strong knowledge and experience in clinical teaching.
- Leadership experience

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
English is the language of teaching and communication at Vin University. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (Academic) with a score of at least 6.0.
For Higher Education roles, English Language Proficiency may also be proven by having completed PhD studies while being instructed through the medium of English.
