THE COLLEGE

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is committed to developing world-class research and providing outstanding healthcare education. VinUni CHS received official recognition from ACGME International, a renowned international accrediting organization, for the high quality of its postgraduate medical education programs at institutional level. About the Role

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Specialist to join our bioinformatics team at Vinmec-VinUni Institute of Immunology.

The long-term goal of this role is to help translate biomedical data into public-ready results and actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Main research data types:
  • microbiome datasets, including 16S rRNA sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, taxonomic abundance tables, functional profiles,…
  • flow cytometry or immune profiling datasets, including immune cell populations, marker expression, gating-derived features, and downstream immune phenotypes.
• Conduct data analysis, statistical testing, and predictive modeling to assess biological signals.
• Design, develop, and improve bioinformatics workflows and analytical pipelines for large-scale biological datasets.
• Perform quality control, data preprocessing, normalization, differential expression analysis, and downstream interpretation of omics datasets.
• Integrate research, clinical, and lifestyle metadata to identify meaningful patterns.
• Support database maintenance to ensure data structure, integrity, and quality.
• Present analytical results, and support the preparation of white papers, manuscripts, and proposals

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Data Science, or a related field. PhD preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R, plus comfort working in a Unix/Linux environment.
• Solid grounding in statistics and biostatistics, including hypothesis testing on high-dimensional, small-sample data.
• Familiarity with machine learning applied to biomedical high-dimensional datasets.
• Comfortable with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong scientific writing and communication skills in English.
• Able to work full-time onsite in Hanoi.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with gut microbiome, 16S sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, or metagenomic functional profiling.
• Experience with flow cytometry, immune cell profiling, immunophenotyping, or computational immunology.
• Experience with multi-omics integration.
• Experience developing age prediction models, biological clocks, risk scores, or clinical prediction models.
• Experience writing manuscripts, scientific reports, grant proposals, or customer-facing scientific presentations.
• Experience with machine learning interpretability, causal inference, or model calibration.
• Experience with structured databases or data storage systems for managing biomedical data, model outputs, and analysis results.
• Experience in biotech, diagnostics, pharma, CROs, research institutes, or health-tech environments.
