Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Bachelor of Nursing Program at Vin University is a four-year program designed in collaboration with #1 world ranking Nursing School at the University of Pennsylvania. The VinUni Nursing Program educates nurse leaders who will advance the Nursing profession and will be active agents for change, striving for the improvement of health and wellness of the individuals, groups, and societies.

Our first batch of students commencing in 2020 and now we are recruiting the third cohort. This is great opportunities to contribute to our Bachelor of Nursing program and be part of VinUni in a role of Teaching Assistant.

Teaching Assistant supervises student teams/projects in large classes; support the lead faculty to clarify/answer questions students have in class, on Canvas, and via email; grade exams, assignments, and projects; prepare teaching materials, and teach small classes under the guidance and supervision of the lead faculty. He/she also conducts curriculum development related tasks to support to faculty in charge of curriculum development and maybe other tasks as per request by the line manager. The total working hours are equivalent to 44 hours per week.

The position provides excellent opportunities for working with senior faculty, as well as on-the-job training that will be useful for those interested in an academic career in the future.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

REPORT TO: Nursing Program Director

  • Assist the lead faculty in preparation of teaching materials
    • Online/Canvas: Prepare and manage teaching materials for the assigned courses; clarify/answer questions related to online assignments; facilitate online discussion forum.
    • In-Class: Assist the lead faculty in delivering lecture and facilitating active learning by providing more personalized instructions to smaller groups of students; leading and moderating group discussion.
    • Clinical teaching: Assist the lead faculty in organizing and monitoring teaching activities at the clinical practice sites.
  • Supervise student teams/projects
    • Supervise and evaluate student projects, labs, tests and other assessments.
  • Grade exams, assignments and projects
    • Maintain records on student progress/grades.
  • Others
    • Other tasks as reasonably requested by the courses’ lead faculty and the Nursing Program’s Director.
    • Support the administrative and educational works of the nursing program when needed.
  • There will be opportunity to participate in research activities as and when available.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 

  • An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences

DESIRABLE

  • Postgraduate qualification in a health-related field or about to qualify in 2022.
  • Experience in teaching health professional programs.
  • Verbal communication skills in Vietnamese.
  • Familiarity and experience using small group learning strategies.
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary and collaborative educational team.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

English is the language of teaching and communication at Vin University. For this role, communicating by English fluently is required (preferable  IELTS Academic with a score of at least 6.0 or equivalent).
