ABOUT THE POSITION
The Lab Technician will report to the Director of Pre-Clinical Medicine and Teaching Labs and Lab Coordinator on all aspects of the management and maintaining the operation of the teaching labs used for undergraduate programs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Laboratory Preparation and Support:
- Set up laboratory equipment, instruments, models, and materials required for teaching sessions.
- Prepare reagents, samples, and teaching aids according to provided protocols and safety standards.
- Assist instructors during lab sessions by providing materials, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Maintenance and Housekeeping:
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces before and after each session.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of lab equipment and instruments.
- Monitor and manage safe storage and disposal of biological and chemical waste.
- Inventory and Supplies:
- Track stock levels of lab consumables and request replenishments as needed.
- Label and organize lab items, tools, and chemicals for easy access and compliance.
- Receive and assist in checking deliveries of lab materials and equipment.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and institutional guidelines at all times.
- Report hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the Laboratory Coordinator promptly.
- Participate in training sessions related to lab safety, equipment handling, and emergency procedures.
- Other miscellaneous, lab-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in basic/biomedical science.
- At least one year of working in wet laboratory or related experience and/or training including academic experience. Fresh graduates can be considered for this position.
- Be a team player with can-do attitude.
- Must be familiar with the use and maintenance of laboratory facilities and/or equipment.
- Must be familiar with Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ensures health and safety protocols are in place.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
English is the language of teaching and communication at VinUniversity. For this role, the candidate needs to have an excellent written and verbal communication skill in English.
