POSITION: Teaching Assistant cum Community Service Learning and Leadership

The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a passionate and innovative individual to join as a Teaching Assistant (TA) cum Community Service Learning and Leadership. This junior academic role is designed to assist lead faculty in course delivery and coordinate key experiential programs such as Leadership Camp and Community Service Learning (CSL).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership Camp Coordination
    • Lead program management and implementation of the Leadership Camp
    • Coordinate with local vendors for logistics, transportation, and contracts
    • Organize student support teams and coordinate internal/external meetings
    • Support teaching logistics: book classrooms, arrange meals, liaise with the registrar
    • Serve as the main point of contact for student concerns and health matters, including collecting student health information
  • Community Service Learning (CSL) Field Trips
    • Collaborate with faculty-in-charge to plan 2–3 community service trips per semester
    • Work with local NGOs to develop meaningful volunteer opportunities for students
  • Teaching Assistant Duties
    • Assist lead faculty in assigned courses with class preparation, attendance, student support, and tracking of CSL hours
    • Support delivery of active learning experiences including project-based, case-based, and experiential learning
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Attend regular program and faculty meetings
    • Support programmatic activities related to the development of leadership and service-learning curriculum
    • Total working hours: 44 hours per week

COMPENSATION

The salary and benefits are internationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Hold a Master’s degree or be a PhD candidate, preferably in the Humanities or Social Sciences
  2. Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  3. Excellent communication skills in both English and Vietnamese (written and verbal)
  4. Proficient in software and tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams; familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) is a plus
  5. Demonstrated experience in coordinating complex events or programs
  6. Knowledge and passion for active learning methodologies
  7. Patient, resourceful, organized, and efficient in time and task management
  8. Committed to student success, with a passion for teaching and mentoring
  9. Safety conscious and proactive in managing leadership and community activities
  10. Self-motivated with the ability to see the bigger picture and take initiative using available tools and information
