Job Description

ABOUT VINUNIVERSITY

VinUniversity (VinUni: https://vinuni.edu.vn/) is the first private, not-for-profit Vietnamese university established based on international standards. The university integrates the models of excellent international universities with the unique cultural and economic characteristics of Vietnam, to make a breakthrough in Vietnamese higher education and to become a world-class university.

The University has built strategic collaborations with Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania — a choice that speaks to our commitment to excellence, innovation in research and teaching, and to making a difference in the world.

VinUni comprises of College of Arts and Sciences; College of Business and Management; College of Engineering and Computer Science; and College of Health Sciences.

Every aspect of the University: its curricula, research, faculty, student body, facilities, and campus life, is being developed to meet the highest standards set by the world’s leading accrediting and ranking organizations, such as ABET, AACSB, WFME, ACEN, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE).

VinUni’s founding benefactor – Vingroup is one of the biggest private conglomerates in Asia with the largest market capitalization value in Vietnam. As a multisector corporation, Vingroup focuses on three main areas: Industrials & Technology; Real Estate & Services; Social Enterprises. VinUni is proud to be a part of the Vingroup ecosystem, giving its students opportunities to connect with several high quality research institutes (such as VinBigData), pioneering companies (such as VinFast, Vinpearl, Vinmec, Vinschool, and Vinhomes) and an dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem (such as VinVenture, VinMotion, and VinRobotics…).

In September 2024, VinUni became the youngest and fastest university in the world to achieve QS 5 stars, earning 5 stars in 9 categories: global engagement, good governance, program strength, academic development, teaching, employability, facilities, arts, and social impact.  In October 2024, VinUni was appointed by UNESCO as the first and only UNESCO University Chair, focusing on Environmental Leadership, Cultural Heritage, and Biodiversity.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Position Overview

This role is designed for a driven, creative marketer who wants to build real expertise in academic brand building and communications—a niche that’s still rare in Vietnam and offers a steep, exciting learning curve. You will help shape how VinUni’s academic strengths, people, research are communicated to external audiences through high-quality content, smart planning, and strong on-ground coordination.

You’ll work in a professional, international academic environment with exposure to global best practices in university communications and the opportunity to grow into a long-term, full-time career path at VinUni, depending on performance and organizational needs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

1) Content Production & Editorial Execution (Core)

  • Plan and produce content for VinUni’s social channels (especially LinkedIn), including post concepts, captions, visual directions, and publishing schedules.
  • Develop and write long-form content when needed (e.g., interviews, feature stories, research reviews, highlights of academic initiatives).
  • Design basic visuals for communications deliverables (social graphics, simple slide decks, newsletters, event recaps) with strong taste and attention to brand consistency.
  • Build interview plans: propose angles, create question sets, draft outlines, and structure storytelling for faculty, students, alumni, and partners.
  • Ensure content quality: clarity, tone, accuracy, and alignment with an academic brand (credible, thoughtful, global).

2) Managing Work-Study Students/Contributors

  • Build and maintain a working network with student representatives/research students across colleges/schools to gather updates on events, programs, and achievements.
  • Plan and assign tasks to contributors: what to capture, who to talk to, what questions to ask, what photos/videos to take, and what outputs to deliver.
  • Oversee timelines, follow-ups, and output quality (content notes, photos, short summaries, quotes, key highlights).
  • Leverage student relationships to strengthen coordination with colleges/schools and improve access to stories, people, and campus activities.

3) Research, Strategy Support & Planning

  • Research global best practices in and academic brand strategy & communications (positioning, messaging, storytelling formats, campaign tactics).
  • Support the development of communications strategy and tactical plans: themes, content pillars, editorial calendars, campaign ideas, and action plans.
  • Help track learnings and outcomes (basic reporting, content performance reflections) to continuously improve execution.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Required Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in marketing/communications/content (internships/freelance/part-time accepted if outputs are strong).
  • Proven experience producing content for social media and/or editorial/long-form writing.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and handling feedback professionally.
  • Exposure to higher education, research communications, or academic environments is a plus (not mandatory).

Core Skills

  • Strong writing ability in English (clear, structured, and audience-aware; academic tone when needed).
  • Content planning skills: can build weekly/monthly content plans and execute consistently.
  • Basic design capability and visual literacy: can create clean assets using tools like Canva/PowerPoint/Google Slides (Figma/Adobe is a plus).
  • Strong editorial thinking: can turn complex academic information into engaging, accurate stories.
  • Communication & coordination: comfortable briefing others, chasing deliverables, and keeping people on track.
  • High ownership and reliability: can manage deadlines, details, and multiple tasks without constant supervision.

Personality & Working Style

  • Taste matters: you have a good “eye” and care about quality—words, visuals, and overall storytelling.
  • Curious and fast-learning: comfortable with unfamiliar academic topics and willing to research until you understand.
  • Organized and proactive: you plan ahead, document workflows, and don’t let tasks drift.
  • Confident but humble: you can propose ideas strongly while staying open to feedback.
