The Medical Doctor (MD) Program is designed to prepare medical leaders who will improve health outcomes at individual, community, and societal levels. We are seeking committed, qualified, and passionate clinical educators to join our growing team and advance the future of medical education in Vietnam.
Position Summary
Full-time clinical-track faculty will be responsible for clinical teaching, patient care, academic service, and educational leadership with joint responsibilities in the undergraduate MD program and graduate program within the Internal Medicine residency. Faculty will also contribute to curriculum development, student advising, and the integration of clinical excellence into medical education across their roles in CHS for UME and GME. The role is ideal for clinicians who are passionate about mentoring and shaping the next generation of physicians.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Clinical Education: • Deliver clinical education in history taking, physical examination, clinical reasoning, and professional communication, primarily in the clinical setting, and in simulation training on-campus, incorporating active teaching methods, including through case presentations as a facilitator, overseeing didactic, case conferences, journal clubs, and others.
- Facilitate clinical skills training, bedside teaching, simulation-based instruction, and small-group case discussions both in the hospital and campus environments.
- Prepare detailed syllabi and high-quality instructional materials for assigned curricula components in assigned areas for the MD and IM programs. • Provide mentorship and academic support to medical students and residents. • Participate in multidisciplinary and interprofessional education initiatives.
Clinical Service and Supervision:
- Provide high-quality patient care at affiliated hospitals (e.g., 108 Military Central Hospital and Ocean Park Clinic).
- Supervise students and residents in clinical settings for hospital rounds and bedside teaching, ensuring safe and evidence-based practice, participating in resident and medical student evaluations.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement in patient care and clinical teaching, including patient safety, satisfaction and in clinical outcomes.
Educational Leadership and Program Development:
- Collaborate with program leadership (Program Directors, Associate Program Directors) to support learner development and wellbeing, as well as toward improved program quality.
- Participate in program evaluation, accreditation activities, and career advising for medical students and residents.
- Participate in departmental and program committees, contributing to academic planning and decision-making.
- Support curriculum development, evaluation, and accreditation activities. • Contribute to CME activities, policy development, and educational governance.
Research and Scholarship (optional/encouraged):
- Supervise student and resident research projects.
- Engage in scholarship related to clinical education or your specialty area.
- Present and publish research in peer-reviewed venues.
Key Selection Criteria
- Education: Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with postgraduate training and board certification (or equivalent).
- Clinical Experience: Proven excellence in clinical practice within your specialty.
- Teaching Experience: Experience teaching medical students and/or residents in clinical or academic settings.
- English Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English (VinUniversity is an English-medium institution).
- Professional Attributes: Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in curriculum design and accreditation activities (e.g., WFME, ACGME-I).
- Background in simulation-based or interprofessional education.
- Demonstrated scholarship in clinical teaching or medical education.
- International experience in teaching or clinical practice.
