ABOUT INNOVATIONS IN HEALTH SCIENCES

Innovations in Health Sciences focuses on four strategic research pillars: Immunology, Stem Cell & Gene Technology, Precision Medicine&Health Tech and Population Health & Health Systems. At Innovations in Health Sciences (IHS), we aim to comprehensively address and develop innovative solutions that promote health, wellness, and disease prevention, enhance early detection, and provide novel and affordable precision medicine solutions to the most common health issues in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and beyond. Additionally, we aim to be the leading authority on healthcare access and the social determinants of health shaping outcomes across Vietnam and Southeast Asia, with the goal of developing policies, practices, and interventions that improve health and well-being.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

IHS is seeking a highly motivated and research-driven postdoctoral researcher to join a 36-month interdisciplinary project titled:

1) “Advancing Interprofessional Education and Care” and 2) “Applications of Technology to Improve Women’s Health Outcomes.”

The postdoctoral researcher will work within a multidisciplinary team spanning nursing, public health, psychology, medicine, and digital health. The role involves contributing to the full research lifecycle and engaging with clinical partners, patients, and policymakers to ensure research outputs are impactful, scalable, and aligned with real-world healthcare needs.

THE WOMEN’S HEALTH RESEARCH LAB

The Women’s Health Research Lab led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa Huyen (https://dawnvietnam.com.vn/en) focuses on advancing innovative, patient-centered solutions to improve health outcomes in women, particularly those affected by cancer. The group’s work sits at the intersection of interprofessional education and care, digital health, mental health, and symptom science, with a strong emphasis on translating research into real-world impact.

A flagship initiative of the group is the Community Wellness Program (CoWP)—a comprehensive, technology-enabled intervention designed to support women with cancer and their caregivers throughout the care continuum. At the core of this initiative is the CoWP App, a smart digital platform that integrates symptom monitoring, mental health support, and patient-provider communication to enhance continuity of care and improve quality of life.

The research group has successfully:

  • Developed and implemented a 12-week evidence-based intervention program focusing on symptom management and mental health
  • Trained 200+ women with cancer and caregivers and 200+ healthcare professionals across multiple sites
  • Deployed and evaluated the CoWP App in multi-hospital settings in Vietnam
  • Secured intellectual property recognition for both the intervention model and the digital platform

Building on this foundation, the group is expanding its research to incorporate AI-driven predictive models, interprofessional care frameworks, and scalable digital health solutions to address unmet needs in cancer survivorship and women’s health across Southeast Asia.

The lab offers a highly collaborative and dynamic environment, with opportunities to:

  • Lead and co-author high-impact international publications
  • Engage in multi-country research collaborations
  • Contribute to competitive grant development as co-investigator
  • Work directly with patients, clinicians, and policymakers
