ABOUT INNOVATIONS IN HEALTH SCIENCES
Innovations in Health Sciences at VinUniversity unites six research centers, advancing stem cell and regenerative medicine, smart health solutions, immunology, and 3D technologies. By integrating biomedical sciences, data-driven health technologies, and population research—and leveraging Vinmec Healthcare’s clinical and data resources—the cluster drives innovations across cancer, aging, mental and environmental health, nutrition, and antimicrobial resistance, translating discoveries into improved health outcomes in Vietnam and globally.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
IHS is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers who are committed to advancing impactful, mission-driven science contributing to the Center’s growing research ecosystem of interdisciplinary health research.
The postdoctoral researcher will join a 24–month project named A Multi-Modal Machine Learning Model for Antimicrobial Resistance Prediction [AMR], focused on the develop an integrated framework capable of predicting AMR of targeted bacterial pathogens, with the goal of generating new insights into rapid prediction system. The ultimate vision of success is a data-driven, proactive healthcare ecosystem that leverages AI to predict and mitigate AMR thereby reducing morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs while promoting sustainable antibiotic use. Working within a multidisciplinary team at IHS, the researcher will contribute to the bacterial genome bioinformatics and AI algorithm workflows, dataset development and annotation, statistical and computational analyses, AI model development and validation, and the preparation of scientific outputs that directly advance the project’s research aims and broader institutional priorities.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Roles & responsibilities:
- Assist with study planning, implementation, and coordination of tasks assigned by the PI.
- Collect, culture, sequence, and manage bacterial genome datasets, where data is permitted.
- Develop in-house bioinformatic genome pipelines, annotation, and quality control.
- Contribute to AI model development, testing, and validation.
- Conduct high quality data analysis and interpretation.
- Prepare high quality research reports, high-tier/Q1 manuscripts, and presentations.
- Collaborate with microbiologists, data scientists, clinicians, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with ethical, regulatory, and data governance requirements.
Expected Deliverables:
- Development of a high-quality annotated bacterial AMR genes dataset.
- Development of in-house bioinformatic pipelines and AI models with verified performance evaluation.
APPOINTMENT DETAILS
- Salary: Competitive, commensurate with degree and experience.
- Contract: The position is offered on a yearly contract basis. The initial contract is renewed, typically for one year, subject to availability of funds, project needs, satisfactory performance, and approval from IHS.
