Job Description
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our research initiative on mosquito ecology and dengue risk prediction. The project focuses on mapping the distribution of mosquitoes in an urban residential area of Hanoi using mosquito traps, spatial analysis, and geographic information system (GIS) software.

We invite applications from graduate-level researchers with expertise in data analysis and epidemiology to take the role of Project Coordinator cum GIS Research Assistant. You will supervise a team of undergraduate field assistants, oversee daily operations, and, with oversight, lead the spatial data analysis. Ideally, you will also have experience using GIS, R and/or Python.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and training to the field team in sample collection and laboratory processing, under the guidance of senior researchers.
- Oversee weekly mosquito trapping and larval sampling to ensure high-quality data collection.
- Manage and maintain the accuracy of the project’s GIS database.
- Conduct spatial data analysis (using QGIS is preferred; experience with ArcGIS, R, or Python is acceptable), and contribute to the development of predictive models.
- Serve as the liaison between students, research fellow, and principal investigators, assisting with progress reports and collaboration with external partners.
- Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for academic publication.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Masters student or recent graduate in geography, computer science, public health, epidemiology, biology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in statistics and spatial analysis and familiarity with GIS software or R software.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills (bilingual in Vietnamese and English preferred).
- Prior experience or interest in epidemiology, public health, or biology is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in QGIS or ArcGIS and scripting in R or Python.
