ABOUT THE POSITION 

The Laboratory Coordinator will report to Vice Dean of College of Engineering and Computer Science and will be responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of teaching and research laboratories. The role focuses on enabling high-quality teaching, computer-based examinations, student projects, and research activities through effective laboratory operations, asset management, technical coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with faculty, Campus Service & Development teams, and technology partners, the position contributes to a safe, reliable, and innovative laboratory environment that supports CECS’s academic and research mission and VinUniversity’s Vision 2030. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

1. Support teaching laboratory delivery: 

  • Support faculty and teaching assistants in preparing and using laboratory infrastructure, software, and equipment for lab sessions. 
  • Support the setup and delivery of computer-based examinations in CECS computer laboratories, ensuring readiness and compliance with applicable procedures.

2. Support student teams and projects: 

  • Coordinate laboratory access and provide operational support for student projects, experiments, and assessments conducted in the lab areas, in accordance with safety and academic integrity requirements. 

3. Laboratory infrastructure management: 

  • Conduct routine inspections and basic troubleshooting of laboratory infrastructure (e.g., PCs, monitoring systems, servers, GPU cluster/compute resources, peripherals, equipment, and machines) to ensure reliability and uptime. 
  • Work closely with Operations and Technical teams to identify and mitigate safety risks and technical issues in laboratory areas and follow through to resolution with clear documentation.

4. Purchasing and asset management: 

  • Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle records for CECS laboratory assets, and process procurement of technology-related goods and services using CECS-approved funds (teaching and research). 
  • Contribute to planning and upgrading laboratories, equipment, and computing resources to support program growth, research needs, and continuous improvement toward international standards in line with VinUni Vision 2030. 
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners (including relevant Vingroup entities such as VinSOC, VinSmartFuture) to address laboratory technical needs related to networking, software deployment, cybersecurity, and user support. 

5. Other duties: 

  • Support University stakeholders in laboratory tours, introductions, and demonstrations when requested. 
  • Perform other related duties as reasonably assigned by CECS leadership. 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA  

1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a reputable technical university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 
  • A Master’s degree in an engineering discipline is an advantage. 

 2. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Able to balance technical troubleshooting with administrative coordination; detail-oriented, responsive, and committed to safe, high-quality service. 
  • Hands-on experience with programming, operating systems, and common IT/lab software environments. 
  • Knowledge of GPU cluster/compute infrastructure operations (e.g., Linux administration, job scheduling, user access, monitoring, and basic performance troubleshooting) is strongly preferred. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Vietnamese.
