Job Description

1. Innovation Strategy Officer

The Innovation Strategy Officer Helps shape VinUni’s innovation pipeline by coordinating IP strategy, leading the design of commercialization-focused initiatives, and driving industry-research engagement. This role ensures that early-stage technologies are evaluated, positioned, and accelerated toward market readiness — contributing to university goals in research impact, sustainability, employer reputation, and international collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement a pre-grant IP and commercialization assessment (MRL, TRL, IP scoring etc.).
  • Track and map VinUni’s IP portfolio and research outputs with commercialization potential; advise on patentability, use cases, and early go-to-market planning.
  • Contribute to drafting and updating IP & innovation policies to support spin-off formation and faculty engagement.
  • Provide advisory support to project leaders on fund utilization, project maturity, commercialization readiness and alignment with VinUni’s strategic and QS-ranking goals.
  • Support early-stage venture formation by coordinating commercialization programmes, reviewing market-fit assumptions, and connecting researchers with potential business partners.
  • Collaborate with executive education and corporate partners to design innovation-focused training and facilitate enterprise–research dialogues, aiming to source applied research topics, attract funding, and expand the talent pool for spin-off ventures.
  • Actively engage with other offices to advocate for commercialization-friendly research strategies.
  • Assist with the department-wide project planning and execution.
  • Reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Innovation, or related fields.
  • 4-6 years in program management, grant administration, or research support.
  • Detail-oriented and experienced in tracking metrics and reporting.
  • Familiarity with innovation evaluation, policy development and higher education strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience working with applied research or innovation portfolios.
  • Background in innovation ecosystems or higher education settings is an advantage.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) for communication and work in an international environment.
  • Strong planning, monitoring and reporting skill.
  • Good command in communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement in cross-functional or multi-disciplinary settings.

2. Innovation and Commercialisation Officer

The Innovation and Commercialisation Officer will support and administer the pipeline of applied research and innovation projects, facilitating market validation, venture incubation, and industry partnerships to commercialise VinUni’s innovations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with researchers and innovators to identify commercialization potential and opportunities.
  • Support patent strategy, Intellectual property development, protection and registration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Design and coordinate external challenge programs and strategic open innovation partnerships.
  • Act as a connector between researchers, industry partners and venture capital stakeholders to build strong innovation networks.
  • Facilitate startup incubation, venture building activities and early-stage venture formation within VinUni.
  • Develop partnerships with industry to match market demand with university innovations and promote commercial adoption.
  • Coordinate with the Innovation Programmes Officer to support early-stage venture formation and ensure alignment of innovation pipeline.
  • Develop and execute market validation plans, including customer discovery, prototype testing, and assessment of product-market fit.
  • Design and deliver capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and advisory support to strengthen researchers’ commercialisation capabilities.
  • Track, measure, and report on the impact of commercialisation activities, partnerships, and funded ventures in alignment with VinUni’s strategic goals.
  • Assist with the department-wide project planning and execution.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Innovation Management, or related fields.
  • 2-3 years of experience in startup advisory, venture building, incubators/accelerators, or industry R&D.
  • Familiarity with tech transfer, commercialization, and university-industry partnerships.

3. Student Entrepreneurship Officer

The Student Entrepreneurship Officer will design and implement initiatives to inspire, train, and support students in their entrepreneurial journeys from idea development to venture creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of student entrepreneurship programmes, competitions and ideation initiatives to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Mentor and support students working on startup ideas, business models, prototypes and (MVPs) from early-stage ideation through venture creation.
  • Organize bootcamps, speaker events, hackathons, and incubator programs to provide experiential learning and inspiration.
  • Coordinate with faculty, external mentors and industry partners to provide training, feedback and coaching to student teams.
  • Provide students with access to resources, toolkits, and platforms to support prototyping, market validation, and venture launch.
  • Track and report student outcomes, engagement metrics and program impact to improve program effectiveness.
  • Monitor program budgets and ensure responsible financial management of student entrepreneurship activities.
  • Assist with the department-wide project planning and execution.
  • Other related duties as instructed by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Business, Education, Innovation Management or related fields.
  • Experience
    • 2-3 years of experience with startup programs, student mentorship, or accelerator environments.
    • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training programs, workshops, or experiential learning initiatives.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) for communication in an international environment.
    • Strong interpersonal, facilitation and coaching skills.
    • Event planning and coordination skills, including experience managing logistics for workshops, hackathons, or incubators.
    • Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with faculty, mentors, and industry stakeholders.
    • Data tracking and reporting skills to monitor student engagement and program impact.
