The Opportunity
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer helps shape VinUni’s innovation pipeline by coordinating IP strategy, leading the design of commercialization-focused initiatives, and driving industry-research engagement. This role ensures that early-stage technologies are evaluated, positioned, and accelerated toward market readiness — contributing to university goals in research impact, sustainability, employer reputation, and international collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a pre-grant IP and commercialization assessment (MRL, TRL, IP scoring etc.).
- Track and map VinUni’s IP portfolio and research outputs with commercialization potential; advise on patentability, use cases, and early go-to-market planning.
- Contribute to drafting and updating IP & innovation policies to support spin-off formation and faculty engagement.
- Provide advisory support to project leaders on fund utilization, project maturity, commercialization readiness and alignment with VinUni’s strategic and QS-ranking goals.
- Support early-stage venture formation by coordinating commercialization programmes, reviewing market-fit assumptions, and connecting researchers with potential business partners.
- Collaborate with executive education and corporate partners to design innovation-focused training and facilitate enterprise–research dialogues, aiming to source applied research topics, attract funding, and expand the talent pool for spin-off ventures.
- Actively engage with other offices to advocate for commercialization-friendly research strategies.
- Assist with the department-wide project planning and execution.
- Reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Innovation, or related fields.
- 4-6 years in program management, grant administration, or research support.
- Detail-oriented and experienced in tracking metrics and reporting.
- Familiarity with innovation evaluation, policy development and higher education strategy.
- Demonstrated experience working with applied research or innovation portfolios.
- Background in innovation ecosystems or higher education settings is an advantage.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) for communication and work in an international environment.
- Strong planning, monitoring and reporting skill.
- Good command in communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement in cross-functional or multi-disciplinary settings.
- Ability to work independently with creativity and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to balance operational rigor with strategic insight.
- Cultural sensitivity and experience working in diverse and international environments.
