ABOUT VINUNIVERSITY

VinUniversity (VinUni: https://vinuni.edu.vn/) is the first private, not-for-profit Vietnamese university established based on international standards. The university integrates the models of excellent international universities with the unique cultural and economic characteristics of Vietnam, to make a breakthrough in Vietnamese higher education and to become a world-class university.

VinUniversity has been tasked with managing and administering different Vingroup Scholarship and Grant programs. Some among them are:

1. The Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program for Overseas Study for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees:

For 11 years starting from 2019, Vingroup will offer numerous scholarships each year for outstanding Vietnamese students to pursue Master‘s and Ph.D. degree programs at leading universities worldwide. The mission of the Vingroup Scholarship Program is to find talents and provide them with rewarding opportunities so that they can lead and advance the development of science and technology in Vietnam in the future. By July 2024, the Vingroup Scholarship Program has had over 210 scholarship recipients enrolled at top-ranked universities in different countries. 2. The “Đồng Hành” Scholarship Program which provides grants and support to reward the outstanding students of some Vietnamese universities.

3. Other scholarship and grant programs.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Scholarship and Grant Program Specialist is an integral member of the Academic Engagement and Global Exchange Department of VinUniversity. The post holder will be tasked with executing activities related to the scholarship program’s grantee engagement, community building activities,  and administration and execution of the different activities of the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program as well as general academic engagement responsibilities.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

(This post holder will report to the Head of Academic Engagement and Global Exchange Department.)

1. Management of the Scholars and Alumni engagement activities of the Vingroup Scholarship Program:

  • Oversee and monitor the academic performance and activities of the scholars/grantees of the Vingroup Scholarship Programs
  • Serve as the point of contact for Vingroup Scholars and Alumni
  • Implement the networking activities of the Alumni and Scholars of the Vingroup Scholarship and Grant Programs
  • Engage the Scholars and Alumni of such programs with relevant activities in Vietnam
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date system records and maintain the database

2. Implementation of the Re-integration Support Activities

  • Connect the Vingroup Scholars and Alumni with the resources and opportunities in Vietnam and overseas
  • Assist the Scholars and Alumni in the reintegration activities
  • Mobilize resources to support the Scholars and Alumni of the Vingroup Scholarship Programs

3. Administration of the Scholar and Alumni’s Community Activities

  • Maintain the fanpages/networking forums of the scholars and alumni community activities
  • Organize online and offline activities to engage the community and serve the mission of the Vingroup Scholarship Programs
  • Promote the Vingroup Scholarship Programs’ community and a wider network and coordinate the marketing activities, including written and visual content for social media engagement

4. Implementation of the Dong Hanh Scholarship Program

  • Contact the Vietnamese universities to implement the activities of the Dong Hanh Scholarship Program
  • Connect and engage the grantees of this program with VinUni and its students

5. Implementation of the Academic Engagement activities as assigned by line manager

  • Take care of new activities and initiatives related to the Vingroup Scholarship Programs
  • Provide support to VinUniversity’s external engagement duties as required

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university, a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 03 years working experience in program administration at an international development organization, non-profit agency, university, or international education organization
  • Demonstrate experience in community engagement activities and the ability to connect people and build network
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for contributing to develop a world-class education in Vietnam and have a strong commitment in managing a long-haul program

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Highly developed communication skills including; well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, networking skills and coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal skill
  • Excellent computer literacy skills – MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Good time management skills, resilience, ability to multi-task effectively and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability, proactivity and flexibility are key assets.
  • Well-organized person and a team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students as well as community groups of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in English and Vietnamese.
